Future Skills Zone
The Future Skills Zone features at IMHX for the first time in 2016 and highlights careers available to young people in Britain’s booming logistics industry.
Logistics should be a strong career choice for school, college and university leavers today. But it isn’t. It’s losing out to better-known careers whilst our workforce ages.
Responding to concerns raised by the industry, the Future Skills Zone aims to target young people ages 14+ with inspiring talks, hands-on activities and inviting career opportunities.
The Future Skills Zone also provides workshops and seminars to business visitors who want to better understand how they can attract new talent and build their future workforce.
Key Features of the Future Skills Zone:
Major Fork Lift Truck Manufacturers - who want to talk to young people about apprenticeships and to businesses about their apprenticeship requirements - are exhibiting in the Future Skills Zone. Don’t miss apprentices from Linde Material Handling stripping down and rebuilding a vehicle!
INSPIRING TALKS & WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG VISITORS
Young logisticians deliver inspiring talks in the Future Skills Presentation Theatre. Talks include; Turn left at Tanzania, The Thrill of the Physical and the Think Logistics student workshop which is an interactive session from Northampton College students.
BEAT THE ROBOT
Expect a special ‘walk-through apprenticeship experience’ from AMHSA. The walk-through zone contains four hands-on activities – including ‘Rope Board Challenge’ and ‘Beat the Robot’ – which will allow visitors to experience some of the demands typically faced by apprentices.
