For many years, the UK has been the market leader in contract hire and I believe this will continue.

I see the UK returning to the business levels we saw at the end of 2019 in 2022 and a potential surge due to customers once again investing in their operations. This includes purchasing new attachments, that they may have previously held off from purchasing due to the uncertainty caused by the impact of COVID.

Fleet buyers will want to see bette utilisation of their trucks when using attachments.

Changing attachments on lift trucks used to require an engineer, now operators can make that change themselves in a fraction of the time.

A PowerMount system makes it easy for one truck to have a choice of two, three, or four attachments. B&B have already seen a surge in orders for this system, and I believe it will continue into 2022.

B&B have an ongoing product development strategy and there are several exciting new products in the pipeline.

Final testing will determine what we bring to the market in 2022 but rest assured B&B will continue to provide new specialist attachments, in many cases bespoke, for the UK and worldwide markets.

Sustainability has moved up our agenda in recent years and there is now more of a focus on sustainability than ever before.

A number of projects including the use of electric vehicles and solar renewable energy sources will be completed in 2022. However, this will be only part of our overall plan, which will be completed in 2022, with the business setting some very ambitious targets and timelines.

As far as attachments go, the introduction of new manufacturing machinery and advances in technology will see smarter attachments. The use of live data monitoring such as weight and height- sensing devices, pressor sensors for clamping force, will monitor day to day service and performance outcomes and help to reduce downtime.

The advancements in technology will allow manufacturers to customise attachments even further to ensure an accurate match for the application required. Telematic intelligence to guide decisions is key to the future of the industry and offers the potential to build a more visibleand quantifiable understanding of operations.
